PrintZero Studios

Q: Does PrintZero Studios have a studio? If so, where?
A: Well, we are glad you asked. PrintZero opened up a studio space in Seattle’s Georgetown area in 2008. It is located at 1480 Airport Way South C. Visit our studio page for more information and a map.

Q: Does PrintZero Studios rent press time?
A: Contact Brian Lane at printzero2@gmail.com.

Q: I am participating internationally how do I send money in US dollars?
A: We accept international money orders, checks, and for the first time all artists can now pay online through PayPal.

Q: Is there a jury process or do I just send in my work?
A: We are introducing a juried element for the first time with Exchange 7, however this is still an open exchange. Any artist who sends in 15 prints (which adhere to the stated guidelines) will be a part of the exchange and the group exhibition. To learn more about the juried portion please download our prospectus.

Q: Why no solely digital work?
A: Though we at PrintZero Studios believe that digital printmaking is a valid artform, we also want to promote the traditional processes that preceeded it. We believe that these processes form the backbone of printmaking.

Q: Why is there a received by deadline and not a postmarked deadline?
A: We have tried this approach once and had to extend so many deadlines due to mail coming in from overseas. We have found we can better follow our timelines if we are not waiting on a few straggling editions that the postal service may have misplaced.

Q: Why do I only receive 13 prints back, if I am sending in 15?
A: Print Zero Studios keeps 2 copies of each edition for exhibitions and archives. This allows for 2 simultaneous shows.

Q: How did you start PrintZero Studios?
A: A discussion between Brian and Jeremy over a Guiness...like all good ideas. It was a passion for art and a common goal to generate interest in printmaking and promote the artform.
